A fire fuelled by strong winds has ravaged at least nine properties in the Glencairn area near Fish Hoek. The blaze, intensified by windy conditions, also triggered rock falls on Fish Hoek’s Main Road, prompting evacuations in the affected vicinity. Efforts are underway by the Energy Department to restore power lines and supply in several affected areas, including Claremont, Fish Hoek, Athlone, Durbanville, Mfuleni, Kuilsriver and Plumstead. As of Sunday afternoon, road closures remain in effect along Baden Powell Drive, Clarence Drive & the R44 and Main Road in Fish Hoek.A significant fire has broken out in Fish Hoek, affecting areas along Simon’s Town Road below Echo Road and impacting residential properties in the vicinity.Simon’s Town Road has been closed to traffic to facilitate the movement of emergency services and ensure public safety
