AI Unlocks the Secrets of Dark Energy in Groundbreaking Study

Lead author Dr. Niall Jeffrey said: “Using AI to learn from computer-simulated universes, we increased the precision of our estimates of key properties of the Universe by a factor of two. A matter map derived from one of the simulated universes. The lightest areas of the map show the regions where dark matter is most dense. These correspond to superclusters of galaxies. The dark, almost black patches are cosmic voids, the large empty spaces in between clusters of galaxies.

This new technique allowed researchers to use much more information from the maps than would be possible with the previous method.
