An electric truck coming out next year will attempt to strike a balance between electric and gas-powered vehicles, with this one having a gas-powered generator for when it runs out of electric power.

The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger, created by automaker Stellantis, is meant to use electricity to be powered, but when the battery is low, a V6 engine kicks into gear and powers the vehicle. The combination is meant to solve the concern many possible electric-vehicle customers have in purchasing an electric vehicle — that the truck could run out of electricity before reaching a new charging station, according to Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis.

Stellantis says the Ram 1500 Ramcharger has a"targeted range of 690 miles." Of that, the battery has a range of 145 miles. This gas-electric hybrid truck outpaces the electric pickup Ram 1500 REV, estimated to drive 500 miles, and the Ram 1500, estimated to drive up to 546 miles.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER

Stellantis's reveal of the new truck comes shortly after it reached a tentative contract agreement with the United Auto Workers union, which went on strike in September against the automaker, as well as Ford and General Motors. The UAW has also reached a deal with the other two automakers. The UAW said it saved jobs at various plants throughout the United States, with UAW President Shawn Fain praising the union for doing"the impossible."
