Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says the “headlong rush into an obsession with renewable energy” is causing risks to Australia’s “energy security”.

Mr Canavan’s comments come as the federal government fears a potential assault on Australia’s energy system as the adoption of solar panels and smart appliances increases the risk of cyber attacks on the electricity grid.

The Nationals Senator raised concerns, saying with the risks for Australia’s energy security, he’s “not sure if our lights will be able to stay on this summer”.“We got to be very careful.”
