The Automotive Transformation Fund was formed in 2020 to improve the supply chain around EV engines and other components as part of a Government initiative preparing for the ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in 2030.Jaguar Land Rover. As part of the arrangement, the Indian business agreed to build a gigafactory in the UK, set to employ 4,000 people. Sources claim that the deal will likely see subsidies of £500m to support the plant, which is set to produce hundred of thousands of EV batteries a year.
