Chris Nelson states that Ottawa wants to destroy the energy industry and that the end of it “will resonate across the country and cause massive, long-term economic hardship.” Nelson fails to mention that it is the burning of fossil fuels that is causing the wildfires, droughts and more extreme weather events across Canada and the world. Climate change is very real and in our face every day.

I personally am hopeful that people concerned about climate change will take action and make a difference. I was saddened to see that a developer is planning to take out 80 rental units to build 50 “luxurious condominiums” at a time when affordable housing is at a crisis point in this city as confirmed by the article, Rental prices rise in the province, on the front page of the same day’s edition.
