The Montebello bakery is now home to the company’s new, and largest microgrids – made up of solar arrays and battery storage for renewable energy – that will help reduce carbon emissions in Montebello, as well as other bakeries across the state. The microgrids will help deliver approximately 20% of the combined electricity needs for six California sites, resulting in a 20% reduction in carbon emissions, which is an estimated 1,700 carbon emission tons per year, according to a press release.
