Jenkins, who is now repped by agent Dan Frank of Lift Sports Management, transferred twice in his career to play for Hall of Fame coach. After two years at Pacific, he transferred to Iona for the 2022-23 season, where he averaged 15.6 points and 4.9 assists while shooting 42% from the field and 36% from deep for an NCAA Tournament team that lost to eventual champion UConn in the first round.
“DJ is a leader,” Pitino told NJ Advance Media. “He puts winning above self. He brings it every practice and every game. He plays both ends of the floor. He does it all, scores, passes and makes players better around him.” He knows he can’t control whether he makes every shot in a workout, but he can control his energy and his attitude.
“The transfers that they got are very, very, very good,” Jenkins said. “They are very, very talented once again just like we were. “Oh my goodness,” he said. “That would mean everything to me, just because I know where I came from and I know how hard I worked. Nothing was ever given to me, I earned everything and so, to know that somebody sees that and they realize that I play with my heart every time I step on the court, I give it everything I got. My work ethic is unmatched in this era.
