Residents of Jimoh Street in the Agboju area of Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos, stormed the Eko Distribution Centre, EKDC, office in Festac town yesterday to lament over what they described as “unjust neglect by the power distribution company and outrageous billings.”

Fielding questions from Vanguard, one of the residents who led the protesters, Mr. Innocent Okolie, said, “We came here for the sole purpose of informing EKDC of our displeasure at putting the whole area in an undue blackout for almost two months. “The most disturbing thing is that despite our packed up transformer EKDC is still issuing outrageous estimated bills to our area go to three months now.”

He appealed to the protesters to volunteer three people among them who would interface with the EKDC staff on how electricity would be restored to the area.
