Four years after the fires, an art exhibition titled Burning Generation gives rural NSW teens a space to process painful memories about the disaster and voice their concerns about climate change.

"We wanted to give them space for their voice and one way we thought would be interesting and valuable to do would be creatively.".

"Rural young people don't have enough of a voice and I think they're disproportionately affected by things like bushfire," she said. The artwork created as part of the workshops have gone on display at the Tumut Visitor Centre, in an exhibition called Burning Generation.Tilly Connolly's piece Pines Bend Over is on display in Tumut.

At one point, phone lines were down, leaving Ellisha and her family unaware of what was happening back home."I'd have times when I'd just have to leave and go somewhere on my own because my anxiety levels were so high," she said.Ellisha, now 17, created an artwork that reflects both her memories and her concerns about climate change."You'd think that bushfires would have been a wake-up call, even now you see the fires in Hawaii and in Greece," she said.
