Minister for Social Services Amanda Rishworth announced the energy bill rebate of up to $500 for Seniors Health Card holders on Tuesday.
Ms Rishworth said the initiative was further proof the Albanese government was fulfilling its election promise to help older Australians. “We are delivering on our commitments to do what we can as a Government to ease cost of living pressures and help older Australians keep more money in their pockets,” she said.
Since November an additional 16,230 Australians who were not previously eligible have been granted access to the card as a result of the change.
