. Now we’ve had the first additional bit of info about what that car might be, Ineos confirming an electric model for the middle of this decade.
To be developed with Magna in Austria, as the Grenadier was, the new Ineos EV will be smaller than its first model but with the focus very much still on off-road ability. “Our all new electric 4X4 will be zero emission while offering customers exceptional off-road capability, without compromising on-road comfort or performance” said Lynn Calder, Ineos CEO.
For the moment, we know that a ‘rigorous’ testing scheduled will take place on the Schockl mountain in Austria, close to Magna’s vehicle assembly facility. Makes sense, given the knowledge that will have been gained doing similar things for the Grenadier station wagon and. The promise is for ‘world-class off-road ability’, which is quite some target given the standard already set and electric 4x4s in development, from G-Class to Range Rover.
“Having worked together on the engineering of the Grenadier, we’ve seen first-hand the value of applying Magna’s agility, knowledge, and experience to a complete vehicle development programme. Deepening our collaboration is a natural next step as we use the Grenadier as a springboard for our continued growth as a global automotive brand with this third model line,” added Lynn Calder.
