Energy drink maker Monster has another video game trademark victim in its sights - this time, indie game Dark Deception…

Monster had contested Ubisoft's original name for Immortals Fenyx RisingIn a similar manner, Ubisoft's attempt to trademark its game name was hit by an opposition filing by the energy drink company. Ultimately, Ubisoft claimed it had changed the game's name for a"creative" reason.

What's curious here is that Glowstick has been using the Monsters & Mortals branding for several years, and in the meantime has partnered with various other high-profile franchises like Silent Hill. "Monster Energy is a bully that is owned by Coca-Cola," Livings concluded."Do not support a bully company by buying their energy drinks. If nothing else, I hope they eventually learn that going after game studios is not in their best interest. #boycottmonsterenergy"

I’m confused, is this a game?

Wow! Governments that work at the behest of capital owners really allow some crazy shit to propagate like this. It’s crazy how we can look at this and at that this is an unsurprising and common thing.

MonsterEnergy Ngl I haven't been the biggest fan of energy drinks, but at least Red Bull doesn't have the audacity to sue an obscure indie game because it had 'Monster' in the title.

Boycott them and any other products they put out. They'll get the message

Disgusting company.

Monster fucking sucks as a drink, and as a cooperation. Go drink some water instead

Blame US trademark law for this stupid shit. If Monster doesn’t “vigorously defend” it’s trademark, they risk losing it. The system basically requires them to file stupid shit like this.

Yh because MonsterEnergy likes to act like a fucking bitch.

MonsterEnergy ya'll really dirty for this. Nobody and I mean nobody would ever confuse the two. A frivolous and predatory waste of time.

Obviously frivolous lawsuit

In a sane world, they would not be allowed to trademark commonly used words.

Thought you were tweeting about a sale on Monster Ultra Paradise (certified banger) and was immediately disappointed and lost interest tbh
