There’s a whole new electric outdoor world right around the corner. Engineer and electric towing expert Mike Sokol explains what's coming.

before the award, with our man Eric Tingwall stating,"The towing range of the electric F-150 is dismal." Turns out that hooking a trailer up to an electric truck cuts said EV's range in half. Here's the thing—the exact same is true for gas and diesel-powered vehicles, but no one cares as gas stations are everywhere, whereas charging stations are most certainly not.

Enter Mike Sokol. An electrical engineer by training, Sokol has become an expert and an advocate for electrified towing, RVing, camping, and glamping. On this week's episode of The InEVitable, Sokol tells us about the future of electric towing, including electric trailers, or eTrailers. What's that mean? An example istrailer where the trailer itself is electrified and has a motor, or motors that power its own wheels.

Sure, you're charging two batteries, but that's still cheaper than a tank of diesel. Sokol also explains that fans of"boondocking" will love the fact that they'll be camping with a giant battery that can power say an espresso machine. No, really. It's a thing. You'll have to listen to find out what boondocking,"moochdocking," and electric TOADs all mean.
