Grattan Institute’s Energy and Climate Deputy Director Alison Reeve says “we’re getting some momentum” for achieving climate targets with the new price caps.

“One of the things to know about achieving Australia’s climate targets so far is that the heavy lifting is largely being done through voided land clearing, which is really the agriculture sector, and rooftop solar, which is household,” she told Sky News Australia.

“The point of this reform is that it means that the industrial sector are going to need to start doing their share of the work that’s needed to get to the 43 per cent target and then turn to net zero.”
