Might have been tempting when offshore production provided lucrative gains. With supply chain challenges and ever increasing logistics costs, it may not be the most profitable decision anymore.
BMW has a long association with the Great Wall Motor Company - economies of scale, R&D, etc......the all electric floor pan for the MINI is shared with the Ora Cat which was launched in the UK recently.
First of many presumably, unless UK starts to produce the actual batteries
Fossil fuels to continue to dominate for next decade…lack of appetite from working and middle classes and shortages of mineral resources is holding the revolution back.
The UK is not seen as a place to invest now. Mini production will end in the UK in the next 5 years or so as demand for fossil fuel variants dries up.
Electricity can’t be universal without fuel and uranium can’t be the one whereas windmill, solar and water power depending climate in the era of”climate change”can’t be sufficient to fill the unthinkably high demands from EV: it’s universal bio, hydrogen and oil 4the next future
Rational coz it’s oil& bio universal that makes this world safe,peace and clean!”BMW has confirmed it will stop building the electric version of the Mini in the UK next year, in a move that leaves its Oxford plant entirely reliant on petrol models for much of the coming decade”
