About 10 per cent of all new car sales would be electric if Australia had tougher fuel emissions standards, the Electric Vehicle Council said, as it released new data showing that just over 3 per cent of vehicle sales are now battery-powered.

The Tesla brand is the most popular kind of electric car in Australia.

The federal government has not committed to fuel efficiency standards but is running a consultation as part of itsAdvertisement Australia lags far behind many other industrialised countries on electric vehicle sales as a proportion of total sales, with Germany at 26 per cent and the UK at 19 per cent, while the global average is 8.6 per cent.

NSW and Victoria, which have much bigger populations than the ACT, are both generating electric vehicle sales between 3 and 4 per cent of all new car sales.Tesla’s Model Y contributing another 20 per cent.

Wish I could get one

And If people could earn more money so they can go and plug the electric EV cars into the power grid powered by fossil fuels

See Europe for guidance for such implementation. We could even use (a) Electric Bicycle, (b) Electric Moped/Scooters, (c) Coles delivery can be reduced to $2, (d) Rental/Uber when needed. Then why need a large car + avoid maintenance cost? Think outside the box, no? 2/2

imho, people rely 'way too much on electric car' as electrification solution of daily transport. Fix up bicycle infra. it will (a) generate more 'foot traffic' = good for business, (b) people are 'healthier', (c) reduce energy waste for moving in a perpetual loop 1/2
