Billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes says the 180-year-old energy giant AGL is moving 'too slowly' in transitioning from fossil fuels – as he becomes its biggest shareholder.

The other would remain as AGL Australia and would be in charge of retail operations."I believe that they are moving far too slowly to transition," he told Sky News Australia.“It’s up to the company to come up with a plan that is aligned to its professed mission.

“The longer those plants operate, the demerger will entrench those plans operating, and that will result in higher power prices for consumers and a more risky and unstable grid for all of us.” “This isn’t something that’s going to happen tomorrow, but this is something that we need to do in a proactive and managed fashion,” he said.

mcannonbrookes Don’t worry AGL, the shareprice of Atlassian is on its way to zero.MCB will have other things to concern himself with .

So this is what 5 years of growth looks like to the current AGL Board. I assume the next step mcannonbrookes is to seek a spill of the board?

So you just want to overide the desires of other shareholders. You are acting like a bully and dickhead, if you don't like the direction agl is taking then sell your shares

Mr Cannon Brookes is not a financial advisor. His only concern is himself and driving the share price down. He has provided no evidence on his views of AGL? How is this a bad thing for shares holders? How will this reduce share holder profits?

At least this Solar farm went down fighting.

Technology today can burn coal clean as gas. Just got to pay for the tech. And there are some by product's as well.

mcannonbrookes And what do you plan to do if your Chinese made solar panels and wind turbines are no longer supplied by the country that causes the most pollution. Too scared to confront them with your money. Of course not, You're a gutless wonder!!

That’s just too bad isn’t it🤣

Who cares.

I work doing offshore geotechnical surveys. When I started we did mainly oil and gas projects, work was sporadic and staff levels fluctuated with the oil price. Now I do mainly offshore wind projects and we are flat out keeping up.

mcannonbrookes Mr Cannon Brookes in not a Financial advisor and should not be advising anyone on how to vote. Yet another wealthy business man only concerned about himself. No evidence provided to back up his MeMeMe views on any issue he has raised about AGL. Again Not a financial advisor.

mcannonbrookes AGL shares now less than last bid by Mike

mcannonbrookes Agree with you Re AGL. They are dinosaurs.

well that is another company that I will never have dealings with now.

He’s a super smart guy , how good is it , that we have an Aussie Billionaire prepared to put his money into a dirty industry & turn it into a Green-profitable power house 🏡. 👍👏👏

No one likes him at South’s they were happy to take his money..fans and club laughing at him behind his back

Can we tell Mike Brooke’s to never show his face on the central coast where he wants to triple power prices

Chinese labs and Russian nuked will kill us before climate change

Good. Attracting shed loads of Private capital into Australia is a huge plus for the nation.

This rent seeker wants to take away reliable, cheap, baseload electricity to make a few bucks on subsidised renewables at Australian's expense. Time to step in AngusTaylorMP before Labor help him.

Your overpriced tech company just lost 40% of its value on the over priced nasdaq and you know how to save the world……….piss off

*Globalist agenda inbound

Billionaire Greed on the back of the poor Renewables = Higher power bills

Tosser! My daughter's (family) power bills are more than a $1000 a quarter. To Cannon-Brookes that wouldn’t even be pocket change, but to her it’s a huge burden.

This young computer nerd is dangerous. Just as the young computer nerds of Facebook etc. have proved dangerous to democracy & human health.

you cannot transition away from something if you don't have a valid alternative (for baseload power that is) . for what its worth we should be investing in nuclear

mcannonbrookes This bloke is smarter than all of Sky news combined.

What a joke. Shall we look at some case studies of countries that have tried a rapid transition? How about Germany, perhaps ..

How can it be real, honest news if it’s always right wing propaganda ?

WHERE IS ALAN TUDGE Just asking.... lol

Yes, Australia and Canada should get a move on, it’s all been their fault. Spare me. 🙄
