New South Wales Energy Minister Matt Kean says Australia could see small modular nuclear reactors - the size of a shipping containers commercially available by the mid-2030s.

Speaking to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell, Minister Kean said he hoped nuclear has a role to play in Australia's energy future, but warned against betting on technology that isn't currently available.

Mr Kean was also pushed on whether he's considering a run for federal politics at the next election, refusing to rule out a tilt for Tony Abbott's former seat of Warringah which is currently held by independent MP Zali Steggall.

Matt Kean should display the plans for where they might build nuclear reactors - you know be transparent. This is still UP for public debate Liberals.

Yeah, not happening. Who is this gronk?

Multiple little Chernobyls dotted around the country...lovely.

See: re-alignment. Matt has heard the hurrumphs of the Pale, Male and Stale conservatives & the 'After Dark' loons. Nuclear is already too expensive in set up and price per Kw. We need investments into energy transition infrastructure.

Australia deserves to have nuclear energy
