If L.A. succeeds, a hydrogen-burning Intermountain Power Plant could become a model for governments and electric utilities around the world.

Pummeled by the impacts of severe weather, California Democrats list climate change as the top issue they want their presidential nominee to tackle, outstripping healthcare reform, a poll finds.Jasmin Vargas, an organizer with Food and Water Watch, said L.A. should target 100% renewable hydrogen by 2025, not 2045. Food and Water Watch is closely allied with the“We’re in a climate and ecological crisis right now,” Vargas told the LADWP board. “We’re in emergency mode.

“We’re excited about it. I think it’s great to see the department really thinking about having a leadership role around getting to 100% clean energy,” Amezcua said. “This green hydrogen power plant would be the first of its kind.” Globally, the market for renewable hydrogen — which is generated by using renewable energy to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen, in a process called electrolysis — is small but poised to grow rapidly, experts say.

Y'all should have just pressed the Cali DoJ to actually investigate the illegal shutdown of San Onofre for the warranty payout if you wanted clean energy.

and how is supposed you will get the hydrogen? You need electricity to get hydrogen...and you will use it to get electricity again...very smart!!!

And it will be cleaner than gas. Great! 👍

kimeekat Makes sense! There is a lot of hydrogen being produced via green methods like wind & solar, and unlike batteries, the gas is extremely portable & cheap over vast distances. As a replacement for liquid petroleum gas it's perfect!

That sounds safe.

Haha. First, build some housing for your homeless population.

Esketit

Extremely clever or stupid: 'Hydrogen is primarily produced by steam reforming of natural gas. Other major sources include naphtha or oil reforming of refinery or other industrial off-gases, partial oxidation of coal and other hydrocarbons...'
