Federal electric-vehicle incentive claims climbed to their highest levels of 2024 in April, despite growing skepticism about electric vehicles among mainstream buyers.
Tesla again topped the chart, though claims from the U.S.-based EV maker declined to 4,811 from 6,230 a month earlier. Broad-based gains at other automakers offset the slide, with Hyundai, Ford and Toyota each filing more than 2,000 claims. Kia, Mitsubishi and Volkswagen each filed more than 1,000. Offerings from Ford, Volkswagen and Hyundai rounded out the top five. Claims for the Mach E, ID4 and Kona tallied 1,351, 1,034 and 995, respectively.
